Wonderful old Scottish Hunting Dirk from Loch Arkaig, which would indicate strong possible connections to the Cameron Clans of early 1700’s
This is not the common Regimental Dirk of todays styling but the very primitive type used by travellers across the highlands and Scottish outback’s when there was a bounty for wolves in the days of MacQueen of Poll-a-Chrocain.
This wonderful Old piece of Scottish History bears a Highlander Crown on the Dirks handle end almost worn away but still visible after 100’s of years and battles the Blade is 3 sided giving it much more strength not to snap like many side worn knives.
The 3 sided blade is after the Roman design and is capable of penetrating through a suit of Armour or the thick skin of wild board with out the fear of it breaking on contact
It measure 330mm in length (13 ½ inches) consisting of 145mm of bone
Stage handle and 190mm of 3 sided blades darken with age and deeply pitted in History weight is 230grams
This is a serious collectors side arm
