The elegant frame is golden, decorated with laurel branches on the cap, rosettes and florets at the top of the main branch, chiseled palms on the sides of the side branches and a palm leaf with acanthus leaf on the tray.

It is the heiress of the Municipal Guard of Paris, created in October 1802 by Napoléon Bonaparte …. in 1813, after the coup d’état of General Malet, it was replaced by the Imperial Gendarmerie of Paris … of which it keeps the Montmorency blade attributed to the gendarmes of Elite under the Empire.
It was Napoleon who made it as an effective force which would have parity with any enemy
1812 the French cavalrymen were victorious over everyone they encountered on level above regiment. At Borodino they even captured a redoubt, a feat never repeated by any other cavalry.
